  Capacitance Level Switch is used for automatic control, alarm setting and detecting interface by utilizing differences in inherent capacitance value of particles, solids, and liquids.
 

Capacitance is inversely proportional to the distance and proportional to the area. Every material has its own capacitance.
The sensor detects the capacitance and changes it into electrical signals.
Capacitance and conductance change between the electrode and the tank wall as the material contacts the electrode inserted into the tank.
A sensor in the electrode detects the impedance variation and sends out ON-OFF signals.
